Why study this course

This program will enable students to study nuclear medicine theory, nuclear medicine instrumentation and radiopharmacy, reinforced by anatomy, physiology, psychology, patient care and research. Nuclear medicine uses a mix of sophisticated medical imaging technology such as PET, scintigraphy, SPECT, hybrid PET/CT, people skills and radioactive chemical compounds (radiopharmaceuticals) to image and/or treat a wide variety of injuries or diseases ranging from elite athletes with sports injuries, to cardiac and brain studies, to cancer patients. Students complete supervised clinical practice in a variety of settings both locally and nationally as part of the program. Centres can include major teaching hospitals, small rural hospitals and private practices.

Student review
This was a 3 year degree with a good mix of theoretical and practical experience. The theory equipped me with the knowledge to make the most of my career. The practical components gave me the confidence to work with patients and the ability to use the medical equipment.
