I graduated in June 2023 and have my certificate in hand. However I have been looking for job since feb and still unsuccessful. This course doesn’t provide any platform to get experience in relation to job application. I have been unsuccessful due to lack of experience. My ultimate suggestion is do not study this course at all. Also most of thd jobs just need certificate level to be qualified. Either I am too qualified to get the job or I am inexperienced. Either way I haven’t got any opportunity and I don’t have any hope. This is really frustrating.

Whilst Deakin University is an excellent University and especially ion you have to study Online its seriously High Technology. The Bachelor of Criminology was a big let down. This has nothing to do with Teaching Staff its everything to do with the actual DEGREE itself the course content Subjects and employability. The degree does Not have no Criminal Justice related subjects, does not have any agreements with work places as in Law Enforcement Agencies, AFP, VICPOL. ASIO, or any other type of Intelligence, Law Enforcement type Organisations. It's heavily related to criminology and that's where most students cut the course in half and discontinue because its boring, its not relevant to the Industry no industry partners. I wont name it but there are other Universities in Victoria that have an excellent balance of Criminology and Criminal Justice where you get to learn a lot of Criminal Law, Evidence, Criminal Law and Investigations, Forensic Studies, Police Studies Australian Border Force Asia Security and Criminal Intelligence Cyber Security and the list goes on. Whilst some students find it good enough it's not relevant to industry no agreements with the Criminology Criminal Justice fields or the Security Industry. We can't all become Criminologists most people want to use the the degree to get into Australian Law Enforcement, Intelligence, Corrections, you can get into these agencies without a degree, however that is NOT the point. The point is that there is no wide variety of Criminal Justice subjects mentioned above and no Industry agreements with Justice organisations or Law enforcement Organisations for the student to get motivated to complete the degree. It's too theoretical and not practical enough. I know dozens of very bright students who had to drop out because it simply does not take you any where. The best thing about Deakin University is the quality of teaching, excellent Online study mode, but simply not enough to take you places or even open doors in the Criminal justice Industry, its not balanced between criminology and criminal justice is just too much focus on criminology and not every student wants to become a criminologist. A very quality university like Deakin yet a very poorly designed degree with almost no industry contacts.

The course was very straightforward and the teachers make it enjoyable and fun to learn. The people are great and the assessments are not too difficult. Overall, I think i have had an amazing study period and highly recommend it for anyone who is unsure of what they want to do.
